On the Birds Beat-A Little Progress for Westbrook - Friday, November 21, 2008
124 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Team - Eagles, Brian Seltzer -RB Brian Westbrook made a small step towards playing Sunday, after sitting out Wednesday's and Thursday's practices. He actually suited up for the start of today's workout (in his helmet and upper pads), and went through some conditioning drills to test his ankle and knee before being shutdown for a majority of the session. The Eagles have officially listed Westbrook as 'questionable' for their game at Baltimore, which means the Pro Bowler should have about a 50-50% chance of playing. -Andy Reid and the Eagles training staff will continue to monitor the status of Westbrook's injuries tomorrow, following the squad's walkthrough, and also Sunday prior to kick-off. Reid said, "If Brian can go, he's going to go." -Should Westbrook feel remotely healthy enough to step on the field, and he appeared to be walking around practice without a noticeable limp today, it would be hard to imagine him not lobbying to be activated for this game, given the dire straights the Birds currently find themselves in. -Regardless of whether or not Westbrook dresses Sunday, reserve RB Correll Buckhalter should finally be more involved in the Eagles' offensive gameplan. That is, of course, if his head coach stays true to his word. Reid said flat out today, "[Correll] will get more opportunities this week." -The latest on the Shawn Andrews front is...what else...another check-up being scheduled. The RG remains in Marina del Rey, CA, and will be re-evaluated next Wednesday, November 26th. Today actually marks one full month that Andrews has been on the West Coast. He had his surgery on October 21st. -Keep your eye on the Eagles' weakside linebacker position. The job belongs to Omar Gaither, but Akeem Jordan possesses instinctual skills and strong enough fundamentals that just might earn him some increased opportunities from the Birds' coaching staff. Remember, Jordan played a majority of the Eagles' second- 2nd Half defensive series at WLB for Gaither against the Giants on 11/8. |
