Eagles Loss Simply Horrendous - Monday, September 29, 2008
221 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Team - Eagles, Joe DeCamara

I have so much frustration that I don't even know where to start with this one, but here goes:

- Matt Schobel's feeble block of the air on 4th and goal from the one yard line basically cost the Eagles the game.  That Bear DE isn't coming around the corner like he did and Buckhalter would have likely gone in.  The "Air Block" is one of the biggest missed blocks I have ever seen.  Brutal.

- While we all rip L.J. Smith, myself included, I guess we do need to realize that he likely would have made that block and the Eagles would have won the game.  It's gotta be said.

- I'm as ticked as the next guy, but the injury factor was legit for the Eagles last night.  No Westbrook, Shawn Andrews and L.J. Smith played a HUGE role last night.  If those 3 were healthy the Eagles win the game hands-down.

- But the reason we're all as mad as we are is because THE EAGLES SHOULD HAVE WON ANYWAY!!  The Eagles are such a better team than the Bears.  David Akers has become a real liability.  Andy Reid's game day decision-making continues to mystify.  The inability to get the ball across the goal line was simply horrendous.  Desean Jackson showed what being a rookie can be all about.  But it should have been a win.

- While the defense played a tremendous 2nd half, the reality is that their poor play in the first half was a killer.  I know they got put in some bad spots from a field position standpoint, but 21 points by the Bears in a first half?  That's not good at all.

- The Wide Receiver aspect of the Eagles was exposed last night.  It's a game like this loss why fans scream and Donovan McNabb pleaded for a playmaking Wide Receiver.  With Westbrook out of there and Desean struggling as the game rolled on it was obvious that Donovan was in a tough spot with who he could go to.  There was one play when Donovan threw about a 25 yard pass to Greg Lewis.  Of course it was incomplete as Lewis had no separation from the defender.  Those are the plays and those are the moments we scream about and obviously the lack of better receivers contributed to the Eagles 2nd loss of the season.

- I guess Donovan McNabb simply will never be a runner again.  It's those types of games when the Eagles are struggling to move the ball that I've always felt that Donovan should take it upon himself to aid the team getting the ball down the field by utilizing his legs ... or at least the threat of his legs.  But Donovan showed none of this.  The annoying thing is that I still think he has the legs to make his running a part of the offensive approach.  But he just seems to refuse to do this.  Frustrating.

- I'm annoyed and I'll continue to be for ........... well at least until the Phils start playing on Wednesday.  I can't believe I could be in a bad mood on a Monday morning two days after the Phils clinch the division, but that's the reality of the matter.  And, oh, Andy Reid should have challenged the spot of that Bears first down.  That was a joke and big time contributed to the Eagles loss.  Brutal all-around.
